Primary Purpose of Position

The Sr. Analyst, Retail Pricing position will be primarily responsible for:

  • Support of pricing and structuring solutions for retail transactions that include standard and non-standard product opportunities.

  • Potential support of structured CORe+ transactions and other sustainable product offerings.

  • Development and maintenance of analytical tools used in support of accurate pricing, tariff analysis and when required in support of operations.

  • Supporting the monitoring of markets, rules, tariffs and rates to ensure our electricity products remain accurate and competitive

  • Provide a high level of service including thorough and insightful responses in a timely fashion for all Pricing related activity.

Primary Duties and Accountabilities: Sr. Analyst, Retail Pricing

  • Provide pricing and structuring solutions for retail transactions that include standard and non-standard product opportunities.

  • Develop an in-depth understanding and expertise of electric market structures, electric products and cost components, market rates, rules and tariffs, and pricing/modeling mechanisms.

  • Potential support of structured CORe+ transactions and other sustainable product offerings.

  • Ability to perform complex technical analyses of pricing data to provide cost analyses, reports, and deliver presentations or trainings.

  • Development and maintenance of analytical tools used in support of accurate pricing, tariff analysis and when required in support of operations.

  • Act as a lead for large and complex electric RFPs along with non-standard requests which may include coordinating, facilitating, and prioritizing resources throughout the company (Data Management, Legal, Accounting, Risk, Credit, Portfolio Management, Trade Desk, Sales, Sales Support, Operations, etc.).

  • Provide a high level of service to the Sales organization by providing timely and accurate pricing through system and process knowledge, leading model and curve maintenance, along with providing product and market insights.

  • Interface with Portfolio Management, Forecasting, and Wholesale Structuring to validate and analyze market curves, pricing models, customer load data and other pricing inputs to support existing products as well as drive development and strategy.

  • Monitor wholesale market rules and retail tariffs for changes that may impact our electricity products; work with Regulatory Affairs as necessary to provide analysis and support in addition to implementing market changes into our retail products.

  • Evaluate effectiveness of pricing strategies and suggests modification of pricing structures as needed.

  • Provides reporting and documentation of pricing structures and serves as the point-of-contact for pricing inquiries from internal sales department.

  • Support development and implementation of existing product and process improvements as well as new retail electricity products.

  • Collaborate in the analysis of impact due to market and regulatory changes into pricing and structuring of retail products; communicate to all internal customers’ impact of changes.

  • Work with internal groups on customer post-deal calculations: ETPs, Assignments, COOs and others.

  • Perform rigid validation process across all models including the development of the Pricing monthly scorecard.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education or experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree required in Engineering, Business, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics or Economics

  • At least 5+ years of experience in a highly analytical environment

  • Competitive retail energy, wholesale energy or commensurate experience required.

  • Ability to work independently and as a team member to manage projects and responsibilities.

  • Strong organizational agility to accomplish goals and overcome obstacles.

  • Ability to adapt to changing markets, systems, processes and learn new products.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with, develop and maintain professional relationships with internal and external customers.

  • Execution and attention to detail orientation

  • Ability to obtain and analyze large data sets with several thousand rows of data, identify issues, work with peers to develop solution to complex scenarios and suggest course of action or remediation.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially with Excel and functions including but not limited to Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, SUMIF, COUNTIF, IF Statements, Basic Statistical Functions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, such as macros and VBA, highly preferred

  • Basic understanding coding, querying and data visualization tools, such as use of Matlab, SQL, or PowerBI strongly preferred, willingness to learn is required
